Academic inquiry and practical experience inform one another, helping students deepen their understanding and develop their interests.

02

Learning through projects

Project-Based Learning (PBL) brings disciplines together through individual and group projects. Experiential Design Projects (EDP) take academic inquiry into settings beyond the classroom, where students explore research methods, cultural questions and the responsibilities of working with others.

03

Advanced independent study

Advanced students who have completed the available regular courses and demonstrate talent in a particular area may pursue Independent Study with a teacher. In their projects, students use evidence, feedback and reflection to understand how their work develops.

The 3+1 pathway:
Shanghai to California

The 3+1 College Preparatory Diploma program gives students the option to study for three years in Shanghai, then complete their senior year at California Crosspoint Academy in Hayward and earn a U.S. high school diploma.

Curriculum coordination between the schools supports academic continuity as students on this pathway adapt to life in a different cultural setting.
